A 50 year-old Labour Party candidate has been arrested in connection with a machete attack on a woman that left her with a severe cut on her arm and a broken bone.
Labour’s Danny Trevago was arrested Wednesday in Leicester on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Mr Trevago who is originally from Mexico immigrated to Britain In 1997 before joining the Labour Party and standing in a number of elections in the Leicester area.
The woman attacked is said to be In a stable condition. The attack which took place in Leicester City centre has been described as ‘extreme random violence’ by investigating police.
Danny Trevago was intending to stand as an MP for Leicester in the 2015 general elections.
